Abigail joined Respect as the Safe & Together Training & Resource Manager in Oct 2021.
Being a focused, adaptable and enthusiastic Senior Practitioner, with an extensive VAWG background, Abigail has progressed over the years from front line advocacy to being a team manager and onto providing expert guidance to practitioners across the statutory and voluntary sector. Abigail’s passion lies with Training and her extensive experience has enabled her the opportunity to devise, deliver and organise various specialist training packages.
Her experience in this field has afforded her the ability to understand the impact of Domestic Abuse and the need for specialist domestic abuse interventions. Previous roles have seen her examining service delivery and practice, identifying gaps and areas for improvement and embedding better working practices by adopting an established set of standards alongside providing case consultations to Practitioners.
“I believe that it’s important to disseminate the support mechanisms that are available to survivors of abuse but there needs to be a culture change in our society from the onus being on the survivor to keep themselves and their children safe, to what is being done around perpetrator accountability. From my experience training provides a platform to share knowledge, information, resources and appropriately challenge the misconceptions that surround gender-based violence.”
In her spare time Abigail loves taking the opportunity to travel and visit new destinations.
