Ruth began her career in the criminal justice sector after completing a degree in Criminology, working with a local authority Youth Offending Team.
In 2010, she moved into the domestic abuse sector, initially facilitating group programmes for women before becoming a domestic abuse caseworker, supporting victims in complex, medium - to high-risk cases. She later managed a commissioned domestic abuse service, leading and supporting staff to deliver frontline services.
Ruth then became Business Development Manager for a Community Interest Company, where she designed and delivered healthy relationships training and developed a pioneering domestic abuse training programme for employers. This work equipped senior managers and HR professionals across a range of sectors with the tools to better support staff experiencing abuse.
Before joining Respect in August 2025, Ruth was Service Manager at Victim Support, overseeing the pan-Lancashire IRIS programme. This dedicated service provided professional training to GP's and health staff, strengthening the healthcare response to domestic abuse.
Ruth is a keen advocate to help break the cycle of abuse, supporting both victims and those using abusive behaviours, working towards positive lasting change.
