Sam has recently joined Respect as a DAPO Team Leader.
Sam's previous experience is from roles within the police, initially as a Domestic Abuse Officer, providing immediate safeguarding to victims of domestic abuse and supporting police officers.
Sam has held the position of Domestic Abuse Co-Ordinator, where she supported the Domestic Abuse Officers, attended professional meetings and MAPPAs, delivered bespoke training to officers and presentations to agencies/public and delivered the DA Matters training to the frontline officers/staff.
It was while covering as a Safeguarding Manager, which included chairing MARACs and managing the MATAC process, that Sam's passion and drive in focusing on perpetrators, and giving them the opportunity to engage in changing their behaviour and/or be held accountable really came to the fore.
Sam has a BSc in Psychology and a MSc in the Psychology of Coercive Control. Her MSc dissertation, using the socioecological model, explored perpetrator behaviour dependant on gender, and how society perceived perpetrators.
When not working, Sam enjoys relaxing by cooking, reading fiction or crocheting and has discovered a love of travel now the kids are all grown up.
