Training to promote a whole-system approach

Respect doesn't work directly with young people and families. We work with professionals who support young people who use violence and abuse. We provide comprehensive training, implementation materials and ongoing support to practitioners who have undertaken our training.

Our training team can offer training and briefings to promote a whole system approach to addressing child/adolescent to parent violence/abuse, which could include support for police, professionals working in housing, social care, healthcare, early help and more.

For more information about our training, see below or contact [email protected].

Trauma Informed! Building Skills in Emotional Identification and Regulation
2-Day Online Course:    18th and 19th March 2026

Building Skills is for young people struggling to manage harmful, explosive behaviour by helping them improve their ability to know and name their emotions and what they are feeling. For example, by developing the sense of interoception and building the mind/ body connection.

Interoception is an internal sensory system in which the physical and emotional states of the person are consciously or unconsciously noticed, recognised, and responded to. Difficulties in interoception can mean a young person may not spot the physical symptoms of stress, such as a fast heart rate or nervous butterflies.

Skills practice in interoception and mindfulness can help young people to become more aware of bodily sensations and their link to emotions. Helping them to remove themselves from tricky situations at the first sign of trouble. If you work with young people who do not know why they behave the way they do, this two-day course could be for you.

The accompanying manual provides 1:1 exercises and video resources for young people who need help to regulate their emotions to prevent violent outbursts.
